How We Work

Our methods are consultative and team-based.

The Capacity Development Group offers training and capacity building only as a team, because our combined 50 years plus of capacity building experience has proved to us that all the issues that arise during an effective learning experience can only be managed well on a team basis.  This is as true of individual capacity building events as for all other aspects of organizational change.

Our regular workshops are therefore planned and managed on a team basis, modeling good practice. For on-site workshops two, three or four of our consultants will typically visit you office, to work with an internal team.

This collaborative way of working has positive results beyond the specific objectives of the assignment:

It models team-based leadership

It models many aspects of a well-functioning community of practice

It models good practice in knowledge harvesting and knowledge sharing

It enables you to address a broader range of the complex challenges that are usually involved in mainstreaming and organizational change

It stimulates a diversity of perspective and encourages the range of points of view needed to address those complex challenges

It provides management with a deeper level of advice

It ensures greater sustainability for our work, and for the on-going work of our clients.

It is the only foundation for real organizational learning and change as a result of the assignment

Although we are convinced that team work is essential to build capacity for gender mainstreaming, each of us is also available for individual assignments on a range of topics.  Please see the About Us page.
